Elevan O'Clock #51 Lauren Innis-Youren - Hold My Hummus , The Secret Life of a Stubborn Soprano

Lauren Innis-Youren calls herself a "Stubborn Soprano", but that stubbornness has meant that she has been able to conquer the adversity that "life" has put in her path.  Thankfully she is stubborn and also very talented.  Her show "Hold my Hummus - The Secret Life of Stubborn Soprano" is part of the 2019 Melbourne Cabaret Fringe Festival and you can catch it at The Butterfly Club between June 24 to 29.

If her Stubbornness got her this far,  I'm really excited about where it is going to take her!

Elevan O'Clock #47 - Just Joshing - Sugarbabies A Boylesque Musical

Sugarbabies - A Boylesque Musical is the creation of theatre performer/boylesque/all round nice guy Just Joshing (his funny and flirty instagram moniker -  @_just_joshing).  In the show Josh blends his two loves - Musical Theatre and Burlesque - to create a show that is full of big band musical numbers and the tease of burlesque.  We chat about what is the appeal of both golden era musical and modern day social media.

The show is on at Chapel off Chapel  - May 23 -25.  and tickets can be purchased HERE

Elevan O'Clock #44 - Jamie Boiskin - Ovariacting: A Period Drama

Jamie Boiskin is a menstrual activist! She has taken her own experience and turned it into a show as she is determined to get more conversation to be had by everyone.  She wants us all (yes men included) to talk about menstruation, endometriosis, and polycystic ovarian syndrome. The sooner we talk, the sooner we can get the conversation into the 21st century. So have a listen and then go see her Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2019 show and you too can be a menstrual activist!

You can get tickets to the show at The Butterfly Club HERE

In this episode I talk to Caz,  the creator and performer of the femme fatale  - Cazeleon.  We discuss how she and the show were created and how telling the story of your own life's journey can stimulate your audience to maybe re-evaluate their own.

Elevan O'Clock #40 - Mamas’ Little Gayby

I probably can't describe Courtney's show any better than her poster - its about " Growing up in the 90s with lesbian mums and finding her own Queer in her heteronormative being" .

Yes there is a lot to unpack in that, and through our conversation we do.  I think the biggest lesson I took from meeting Courtney is don't let other's define you.  Figure out your own definition and be proud of it!

Elevan O'Clock #37 - Raven

Raven has been one of Australia's leading boylesque performers for the last decade,  even winning Mr Boylesque Australia in 2012. He has been at the forefront of boylesque growing from a handful of Australian performers to Australian boylesque troupes touring the world.  His knowledge of the history of burlesque is the roots of his performance and believes it is important to know where you've come from to know where you're going.

If you would like to check out the Perth Fringe 2019 shows Raven is part of  here are the links

Elevan O'Clock #31 Mama Alto part 1

The best description for Mama Alto comes directly from the biography on Mama's website - "Mama Alto is a gender transcendent diva, cabaret artiste, jazz singer and community activist."  Mama is also extremely fascinating to converse with.  Our chat went for over two hours and so there are three episodes of our conversation. We discuss art, politics and Mama's inspirations.  Mama is a joy to spend time with,  and I hope you enjoy the time you get to spend listening to her.
